MapHer

Description
The Orienteering and Cultural Heritage for Empowering Young Women - MapHer project leverages orienteering as both a sport and an educational tool to engage young women in exploring cultural and natural heritage while promoting physical activity and outdoor sports participation. Orienteering, a dynamic and strategic sport that combines navigation and endurance, serves as the foundation for MapHer’s activities, fostering essential skills such as decision-making, resilience, and spatial awareness. Through orienteering-based challenges and collaborative experiences, MapHer aims to create an empowering environment where young women develop confidence, a sense of belonging, and a deeper appreciation for their surroundings.
The project stemmed from partners’ previous experience in organising orienteering events for the local community, especially in Croatia and Cyprus. Elevating the idea on a European scale makes room for international knowledge and good practice exchange and gives opportunities for young women to participate in healthy activities all while learning new skills through orienteering.
The project has received funding from the European Commission for the period 2025 - 2027 in the framework of Erasmus Sport with the participation of the following partners: Active Zone Outdoor (Coordinator; Cyprus), Mountaineering association PD Tuhobic - PD Tuhobic (Croatia), OTI Slovakia (Slovakia).
